    Mozart: Requiem

    $55.00 $49.00

With a new Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei by Gregory Spears, commissioned by Seraphic Fire

    A Knight Concert Series Program
    Patrick Dupré Quigley, conductor

Seraphic Fire is pleased to offer an encore presentation of Mozart's signature opus, with a completion commissioned by Seraphic Fire featuring three newly-composed movements by young American composer Gregory Spears. “A completion that offers more musical rewards… [it] drew on hundreds of years of music history, with echoes of Bach and Mozart, glowing Romantic harmonies, glints of contemporary dissonance, and the effective use of timpani” (South Florida Classical Review).

Mozart: Requiem is made possible through a generous gift by David L. Webb and W. Lynn McLaughlin.

    Julian Wachner, guest conductor

A singular work by master of American composition, Morten Lauridsen’s Chansons de Roses (Rose Songs), headlines this in-depth exploration of musical modernism in the Americas. From Lauridsen to Heitor Villa-Lobos and Alberto Ginastera, each composer crafted music that elegantly combines the native tunes of their homelands with more traditional European styles. Julian Wachner, Trinity Wall Street Music Director, conducts and accompanies Seraphic Fire in a program that will include Mr. Wachner’s own compositions.

  • Sale! William Byrd: The English Cathedral

    William Byrd: The English Cathedral

    $40.00 $36.00
    Patrick Dupré Quigley, conductor

Well known as a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I, William Byrd led a dual life. In public, he composed glorious music for the reformed English church; in private, he produced intimate, divine works of devotion for private worship by England’s Catholics. Well aware of the Catholic sympathies of Byrd and his teacher, Thomas Tallis, Elizabeth was nonetheless so taken with the men and their work that she granted them a monopoly on music publishing in the realm. William Byrd’s music still stands as a monument to the cultural renaissance under the reign of Elizabeth I.

William Byrd: The English Cathedral is made possible through a generous gift by Dr. Thomas C. Boyd in memory of Stanley Ferch and Thomas Boyd Sr.
