Announcement: Brahms’ Requiem – Now On Sale

MIAMI, FL May 23, 2011- Following a two week long training program, the professional singers of Miami’s Seraphic Fire will team up with the up-and-coming singers of the Professional Choral Institute to present Brahms’ monumental piece, Ein Deutsches Requiem. The first performance will be delivered on Saturday, June 4 from University of South Florida’s all-new Concert Hall in Tampa at 8:00 PM. A second and final performance will be given Sunday, June 5 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Ft. Lauderdale at 6:00 PM. The Professional Choral Institute is a two-week training program for aspiring singers wishing to break into the competitive and growing field of professional choral singing.  Held at the new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of South Florida from May 23 – June 5, 2010, the Professional Choral Institute (PCI) brings together the professional musicians of Seraphic Fire and the best vocalists from the nation’s top  conservatories and universities to record and perform Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem.

Participants will work  side-by-side with the professional musicians of Seraphic Fire under the leadership of the team that created Seraphic Fire’s chart-topping recording of Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespers: Patrick Dupré Quigley, Artistic Director of Seraphic Fire; James K. Bass, Director of Choral Studies at USF; and Peter Ruttenberg, GRAMMY-winning producer/conductor of the Los Angeles Chamber Singers.

Founded in 2002 by Artistic Director Patrick Dupré Quigley, Seraphic Fire has garnered critical acclaim locally and nationally. Lauded by the Miami Herald as “one of the best choirs anywhere,” The Sun Sentinel describes Seraphic Fireas “the smartest, most creative, consistently excellent classical music ticket in South Florida.” Seraphic Fire has gained a reputation for dynamic, cutting-edge performances.
