MIAMI, FL Decmber 15, 2010 - In what will certainly become a half-decade of sold out performances, Seraphic Fire and the Firebird chamber orchestra will be performing Handel’s holiday masterpiece, Messiah. The program will debut December 18, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. on the beautiful stage of the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall of the Adrienne Arsht Center, which is a co-producer of the December 18 performance. A matinee performance will be delivered December 19, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, Fort Lauderdale. Now a gem among South Florida’s cultural institutions, SERAPHIC FIRE has garnered high praise since its inaugural season nine years ago. “Seraphic Fire’s Messiah has quickly become a Christmas tradition in South Florida,” said Alan Becker of the South Florida Classical Review. “…the performance was brilliantly successful,” he added. Nearly 270 years ago Handel’s Messiah was first performed in Dublin, Ireland and has since become one of the most popular works in the Western choral literature. Heard in concert halls and churches around the world, Messiah is the definitive yuletide favorite. SERAPHIC FIRE will be presenting its own 75-minute highlight version of this treasured, poignant composition. Messiah is a Knight Concert Series presentation.
