Seraphic Fire’s newest recording charts in three different categories

MIAMI, FL – Following a week that saw the album at the top of several digital charts, Seraphic Fire’s latest recording, Ave Maria, has made its Billboard debut, charting in three different categories. Ave Maria appears at No. 9 on the Top Classical Chart , No. 9 in the Traditional Classical Chart, and No. 22 on the Classical Albums Chart. Released August 27 on the ensemble’s own Seraphic Fire Media label to digital and physical formats, the album is distributed by Naxos of America.

This latest development marks the accomplishment of a significant objective: to raise the ensemble’s national profile by appearing in the Billboard Charts, the holy grail of rankings. To achieve this end, the ensemble launched a marketing initiative powered by social media and reliant on word of mouth.

“We really wanted to put the national Classical music scene on notice that we are in the game,” says Seraphic Fire Founder and Artistic Director Patrick Dupre Quigley.

Seraphic Fire’s first recording of Gregorian chant dissects the Compline hymns to the Virgin Mary that concluded daily life for monastic clerics. Original chants Alma Redemptoris Mater, Salve Regina, Ave Regina Caelorum, and Regina Caeli are interwoven with expert polyphonic treatments by Francisco Guerro, Josquin des Prez, John Dunstaple, Leonel Power, Tomas Luis de Victoria, and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.
