Tickets are $38 and can be purchased at SeraphicFire.org or by phone at 305-285-9060. “‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free.” These powerful words from the Shaker hymn Simple Gifts inspired Aaron Copland to write his most memorable work: Appalachian Spring. With beautiful sincerity, these hymns are a direct link to America’s early history and an inspiration for composers over the ages. Simple Gifts is a celebration of refreshingly simple Americana, with music from the Shaker tradition, as well as Copland, Samuel Barber, Morten Lauridsen, and others. The earnest joy of this music is the perfect departure point for an incredible season.
