MIAMI, FL – Celebrating three pillars of 18th and 19th century composition, Seraphic Fire presents the Firebird Chamber Orchestra in Tchaikovsky: The Serenade on November 16 – 20, 2011 venues in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. This gripping program shows Seraphic Fire’s sister ensemble, Firebird, in all its virtuosic glory, interpreting one of Tchaikovsky’s signature scores, the Serenade for Strings. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at or by phone at 888-544-FIRE. Continuing its mission to reach younger audiences, a limited amount of tickets are FREE for patrons thirty and under.

When describing his now-famous Serenade for Strings, Tchaikovsky wrote to one of his good friends, “This piece is from the heart.” Written as an homage to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Tchaikovsky’s musical hero, the Serenade features the full weight of the Russian master’s exquisite Romantic styling. The Serenade inspired George Balanchine’s first ballet in the United States. Also on this program will be Mozart’s delightful Divertimento in D major, along with Felix Mendelssohn’s powerful String Symphony No. 8.

Over four seasons, the Firebird Chamber Orchestra has established itself as a musical force in South Florida. David Fleshler of the Miami Herald declares that Firebird is “…clearly full of first-rate musicians…” Laurence Budmen of the South Florida Classical Review describes the ensemble as “moving and unforgettable.” “Excellent” says Gregory Stepanich of the Palm Beach Arts Paper. Performances by the Firebird Chamber Orchestra and its sister ensemble, Seraphic Fire, have been called “… brilliantly successful” by Alan Becker of the South Florida Classical Review.
